Council Consents

All EasyBuild designs have been pre-consented by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, which means that seeking consent from your local authority is simpler and quicker than usual.

Your local authority needs to check that the proposed foundations on your site will comply with the Building Code and the Local District Plan, and that the correct services for plumbing and electricity are in place on the site. We are here to help with your consent application.

Recommended Approach

We recommend you take the following steps to get your consent underway. Your builder may help you source these:

Prepare the following documents and provide them to EasyBuild:

  • EasyBuild Consent Registration Form (provided by EasyBuild).
  • A deposited plan of your site from Land Information New Zealand (LINZ).
  • A copy of the site title.
  • Engage a topographical surveyor to conduct a site study and provide you with:

    1. The levels of the site, on a grid of three metres.

    2. Locations and invert levels of the services on the site, including plumbing, gas and electricity.

Confirm you have each of the above items ready in electronic form, and provide them to EasyBuild at support@easybuild.co.nz.

We will then produce your consent documents and foundation plan. If we believe you also need to seek resource consent, we will advise you on the best way to deal with this process. Once complete, we will return these documents to you.

You submit your documents to your local authority, and pay any related fees. Fees for consent vary between councils, but you can expect to pay a minimum of $3,000 for your consent. For information relevant to your local area, please contact your local council, or visit their website.

5.

 

As your new home design has been pre-consented by the MBIE, a response should be received from your local authority within 10 working days.

Please Note: It’s not unusual for local authorities to request further information about a certain aspect of a build, and if this occurs, we will act as an agent for you to resolve any issues. Any costs incurred from the local council as a result of this are the responsibility of the customer.
